2nd Great Awakening
Led by Charles G Finney, he told the people to save themselves through gods works and faith. This also led to other social movements.
Temperance Movement
The Temperance Movement happened during the 2nd Great Awakening. This prohibited the manufacturing and sale of alcohol. It started in Maine then other states started to grasp the idea. Neal S. Dow led to Maine Law in 1851

Abolitionism
Cult of DomesticityWomen's roles at this time were homemakers and mothers. The growth of industry moved more men into factories, so women were left to tend homes and children. Children were not required to work the fields with parents anymore, which cause the birthrate to drop.

Women's MovementFemale reformers started a women's rights movement fight against the cult. They demanded universal suffrage to include both women and men. The women's crusade was overshadowed by the abolitionist movement and did not resurface until around the 20th century.

Utopian SocietiesMany groups (both religious and nonreligious) formed communal societies, in hopes reaching the perfection they were aiming for.

Birth of American Culture 1800's - NOWThe birth of American culture was happening every where in the US. Ralph Waldo encouraged it using lectures. He wanted the Nation to be unique.
